Minginish Centenary Project Funding

23 April 2025

Muirhall Energy had the pleasure of meeting volunteers of the Minginish Community Hall Trust to learn more about their recent Centenary Project developed to celebrate the arrival and development of the Minginish communities over the past 100 years.

The funding provided by Muirhall Energy was used to erect a permanent memorial cairn to the families from Lewis, Harris, Scalpay and Skye who relocated to begin a new community on the Minginish peninsula.

Through the collection of stories, film, photographs and artifacts, and ‘Strupag’ social events, the community have come together to celebrate, remember and reconnect.

The project is continuing to grow, with next steps to include the addition of interpretation boards to the cairn. These board will present the stories and artefacts gathered throughout the project to ensure visitors and residents in futures years can understand the history of the area.

You can hear more about the project through the video below.

The funding for the this project was allocated through one of our Quarterly Funding Panels, in connection with our proposed Glen Ullinish II Wind Farm.

If you would like to enquire about funding for an upcoming community project, you can submit a funding enquiry form through our website.
