Portree Youth Development Allotment Funding
Muirhall Energy were pleased to meet the team at Portree Youth Development Allotments and the pupils that are benefitting from the recently allocated community funding.
The funding provided by Muirhall Energy has enabled High Life Highland to employ assistant youth worker and horticulturalist Nicholas Kelly part-time to support rural skills sessions for pupils at Portree High School.
These sessions support young people, who struggle in a typical teaching environment, with the opportunity to learn valuable horticultural skills including planting, landscaping and food production. These skills can then be used to gain subsequent qualifications including Youth Achievement Award, Saltire Award and Dynamic Youth Awards.
You can hear more about the project through the video below.
The funding for the this project was allocated through one of our Quarterly Funding Panels, in connection with our proposed Glen Ullinish II Wind Farm.
