Greengairs East

North Lanarkshire

Operational

The application for Greengairs East Wind Farm was initially granted consent by North Lanarkshire Council in January 2019. The application was successfully varied in September 2020 to accommodate modern, more efficient turbines, allowing for the operational capacity of the site to be maximised.

The site was constructed over the course of 18 months and became fully operational in June 2023. The site was formally opened in August 2023, by Scottish Government Ministers Neil Gray and Patrick Harvie, who were joined by members of the local community, contractors and pupils from nearby primary schools.

Community Funding

Over the past few years we have worked with Muirhall Energy and have always found them to be friendly and approachable. They have a great community engagement programme. Plains Community Futures certainly could not have achieved as much within the village without the support and engagement of Muirhall Energy. We are glad to be able to continue to count on them as a trusted partner.
