Initally realised by Infinis, Muirhall Energy acquired MelinCourt wind farm in 2017 approved by Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council in May 2018.

The site is located within the Neath Valley, approximately2km south east of Resolven. The wind farm would comprise five wind turbines up to 145m in height (to blade tip) and site infrastructure including roads, a temporary construction compound, an electrical substation building, and a permanent wind monitoring mast.

The previous developer submitted an Environmental Statement as part of the planning application for the Melin Court wind farm proposal and worked with experts in a variety of fields, including ecology, ornithology, noise, transport, cultural heritage, and landscape and visual impact assessment, to ensure that all possible effects of the proposed wind farm will be taken into consideration. The full set of planning documents can be viewed on Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council’s website under reference numberP2014/0883.

We are continuing to progress the wind farm at Melin Court with our optimization of the development. As part of these optimization works, we are seeking a variation in turbine size from Neath Port Talbot Council. We have submitted a S73 variation application hope to have this approved in 2022.

Muirhall Energy remain in talks and are progressing towards reaching an arrangement with Natural Resources Wales allowing site and grid infrastructure access. We anticipate that an outcome for this will be reached in the coming months. We would like to thank the community for their continuing and previous support regarding the lobbying of NRW and their wider support of the development.

Shared Ownership & Community Benefits

Melin Court Community Investment Fund

Muirhall Energy firmly believes that the communities living closest to our windfarms, should share in the benefits of the development.

To this end, Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) have been agreed with the two closest Community Councils to the windfarm - Clyne & Melincourt Community Council, and Resolven Community Council. Both Community Councils will be able to apply to the £120,000 per annum fund.

Over the 25 year lifetime of the wind farm, the local community will benefit from over £3 million of locally available funds.

Other contributions to the community in the last 12 months

• £500 donation to Resolven Gym to contribute towards new gym equipment;
• £2,000 donation towards a local food bank which covers the area, as part of Muirhall Energy's COVID19 relief fund;
• Muirhall has recently agreed to contribute 50% of the costs, towards the costs for a paediatric changing table and hoist, at Building Blocks Family Centre in Resolven.
