THE DEVELOPMENT

Muirhall Energy acquired the Glenkerie Extension wind farm from Infinis in 2017.

An application for planning permission for Glenkerie Extension wind farm was submitted to Scottish Borders Council in May 2013. The proposed development is adjacent to the operational eleven-turbine Glenkerie wind farm.

In December 2014 the planning application was refused by Scottish Borders Council. Infinis appealed the refusal, and on 5 March 2015 submitted documents to the Scottish Government Directorate for Planning and Environmental Appeals (DPEA). A reporter was appointed who considered the evidence submitted. The Reporter allowed the appeal and granted planning permission for Glenkerie Extension on 29 July 2015. A copy of the DPEA Decision Notice is provided above.

The proposed extension comprises six wind turbines with a maximum blade tip height of 100 metres above ground level. The wind farm would have a maximum electrical output of 12MW. Access to Glenkerie Extension would be gained using the existing Glenkerie wind farm access track from the A701 at Kingledores. New sections of track would be added to allow access to the six proposed Glenkerie Extension wind turbines.
