Muirhall Energy has been shortlisted for a major renewables industry honour at the prestigious Green Energy Awards to be held in Edinburgh in November.

The awards, run by industry body Scottish Renewables, showcases the best in renewable energy talent, projects and innovation.

Muirhall was nominated for the Business Growth Award 2014 reflecting its ambitions not only to grow its own business but also to help the communities in which it operates to share in its success.

Local supply chain growth is an ethos that the company is committed to. In the past 4 years £12 million has been awarded in contracts to local companies working on Muirhall’s own farm based projects – Muirhall Windfarm and Muirhall Extension.

The South Lanarkshire based company has grown significantly in the last two years delivering 7 projects worth approximately £20 million. Its success has meant staff numbers have nearly trebled from 5 to 14 with further recruitment underway.

To deliver a growing portfolio of projects and accommodate the expanding team numbers the company has plans to relocate to a purpose-built, sustainable office space close by.

Managing Director Chris Walker said:

“We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for the Business Growth Award. We were originally a developer of single 500KW turbines, and in recent months have announced a series of major development proposals of up to 82MW which will see us expand into Dumfries and Galloway, the Borders and the Highlands with further growth planned. The nomination is testament to the team’s hard work and commitment to furthering our ambitions and we look forward to the event.”

The coveted Green Energy Awards will be announced at a sell-out dinner at the EICC in Edinburgh on November 27, where over 1,100 guests will celebrate the achievements of the industry.
