Muirhall Energy have signed agreements with local community organisations in Forth, 3km south of the newely constructed Tormywheel Wind Farm, which consists of 15 turbines in the West Lothian Local Authority area.
The village of Forth is set to benefit from £15,000 per annum through regular donations to five local organisations, which are: Forth & District Initiative; Forth and District Development Trust; Forth Community Resource Centre; Forth St Paul’s after-school Children’s Club; and Forth & District Children’s Gala Day.
In addition, a further £10,000 will be distributed through The Levenseat Trust, whose fund area also includes Forth.
Isobel Hogg, Vice President of Forth & District Children’s Gala Day, said:
“Forth Gala Day are delighted to have been selected to receive money from Tormywheel Wind Farm. This will help us greatly with the annual costs of the bands and entertainment; but also allows us to make plans for the year ahead to ensure that future gala days continue for the people of Forth.”
As well as the agreements for Forth, Muirhall Energy expect to be able to announce completed agreements with community groups in the areas of Fauldhouse, Breich, Woolfords, Loganlea and Stoneyburn in the coming weeks.
Mike Molleson, Muirhall Energy’s Project Manager for Tormywheel Wind Farm, said:
“This is an exciting day for Muirhall Energy and our new community partnerships for Tormywheel Wind Farm. These agreements ensure that the wind farm benefits are distributed to as many groups representing the community as possible, and we are delighted that this has been achieved.”
In total, the annual community benefit contributions resulting from Muirhall Energy’s wind farms in South Lanarkshire and West Lothian are up to £345,000 a year.
