The proposed Greengairs East Wind Farm is an eight turbine project located between Greengairs, Plains and Caldercruix in North Lanarkshire. Following extensive studies on the site as part of an Environmental Impact Assessment, a planning application was submitted to North Lanarkshire Council in May 2012.
In May 2013, additional information in the form of an SEI (Supplementary Environmental Information) was also submitted. At present the application is awaiting consideration by North Lanarkshire Council.
Muirhall Energy is committed to setting up a Community Benefit Fund. A fixed annual payment of £5,000 per megawatt (MW) of installed capacity will be provided, index-linked to account for inflation. This would amount to approximately £3 million over the 25 year lifetime of the proposed development.
