Muirhall Energy are proud to announce that the final turbine in the three turbine extension to Muirhall Wind Farm in South Lanarkshire has been erected.

The company has been working closely with Civils Contractor Jones Bros to ensure a smooth construction process. Much thanks goes to the several contractors and companies involved throughout construction, many of which are from the surrounding local area.

Construction started in September 2015, with Collett delivering the turbine components from the Port at Grangemouth, to the development site near Tarbrax.

At 58.7m in length, the GE Turbines have the largest blade length of any onshore wind turbine in the UK, and at 145m to tip are amongst some of the tallest.

Muirhall Energy Construction Manager, Kenny Christie said:

“The final turbine of the Muirhall South development was erected on the last day of January. A long period of particularly challenging weather conditions extended the build period, however both the turbine supplier and Civils/Balance of Plant contractor forged ahead.

“Commissioning and cabling works are now well underway, and we are looking forward to energising in the coming weeks.”
